Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 8, 2026

1. Introduction

Hivelighter Inc. ("Hivelighter," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of the personal information entrusted to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and otherwise process personal information when you access or use our website, browser extension, mobile applications, and any related products or services (collectively, the "Services"). It also explains the choices available to you regarding your personal information and the rights you may have under applicable privacy laws.

By accessing or using our Services, you acknowledge that your personal information will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

The categories of personal information that we collect depend on the manner in which you interact with the Services.

When you create an account or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect information that identifies you, such as your name, email address, profile information, account credentials, authentication identifiers, and information associated with third-party sign-in providers, including Google, Apple, or Facebook, where you choose to authenticate through those services.

We also collect information that you create, upload, or otherwise provide while using the Services. This may include highlights, annotations, notes, collections, bookmarks, documents, saved content, prompts, AI interactions, workspace information, and other content that you voluntarily choose to store within your Hivelighter account.

When you access or use the Services, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information. This information may include your IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, language preferences, pages visited, features accessed, application events, referring URLs, timestamps, diagnostic information, crash reports, security logs, and other information relating to your interaction with the Services. This information helps us understand how the Services are used, improve performance, maintain security, and troubleshoot technical issues.

We may also receive information from third parties, including authentication providers, payment providers, business partners, and service providers, where such information is necessary to provide the Services or where you have authorized those third parties to share information with us.

3. How We Use Personal Information

Hivelighter processes personal information only for legitimate business purposes and in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

We use personal information to provide, operate, maintain, support, and improve the Services; to authenticate users and manage accounts; to synchronize highlights, annotations, notes, and other user content across supported devices; to personalize user experiences; to provide AI-powered features requested by users; to communicate with users regarding their accounts or the Services; to respond to inquiries and support requests; to process transactions where applicable; to monitor, maintain, and improve the performance, reliability, and security of the Services; to detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and other harmful activities; to comply with legal obligations; to enforce our contractual rights; and to protect the rights, property, safety, and security of Hivelighter, our users, and others.

Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before processing personal information for purposes that require such consent.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), the UK GDPR, or similar privacy legislation applies, Hivelighter processes personal information only where a valid legal basis exists. Depending on the circumstances, we may process personal information because it is necessary to perform a contract with you, because the processing is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, because the processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms, or because you have provided your consent where consent is required by applicable law.

5. AI-Powered Services

Hivelighter provides features that incorporate artificial intelligence to assist users in organizing, understanding, and interacting with information more efficiently. When you choose to use AI-powered features, we may process prompts, requests, uploaded content, highlights, notes, and related contextual information necessary to generate responses and provide the requested functionality.

We use such information solely for the purposes of delivering, maintaining, securing, and improving our AI-powered Services, consistent with this Privacy Policy and our contractual obligations. Unless otherwise disclosed or authorized by you, we do not use your AI prompts or generated outputs for behavioral advertising.

6. Disclosure of Personal Information

Hivelighter does not sell personal information.

We may disclose personal information to carefully selected third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf, including providers of cloud infrastructure, authentication, payment processing, customer support, analytics, security monitoring, communications, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and other business operations necessary to provide the Services. These providers are authorized to process personal information only for the purposes of providing services to Hivelighter and are contractually required to implement appropriate safeguards designed to protect such information.

We may also disclose personal information where required to comply with applicable law, legal process, governmental requests, court orders, or regulatory obligations, or where disclosure is necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, enforce our agreements, investigate suspected fraud or security incidents, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Hivelighter, our users, or others.

In connection with a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of the applicable transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections and applicable legal requirements.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Hivelighter uses cookies and similar technologies to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the Services. These technologies help us authenticate users, remember preferences, maintain secure sessions, improve website and application performance, support AI-powered functionality, understand how the Services are used, and develop new features.

Additional information regarding our use of cookies, including the categories of cookies we use, the purposes for which they are used, and the choices available to users, is provided in our Cookie Notice.

8. International Transfers of Personal Information

Hivelighter is headquartered in Canada, and personal information may be processed, accessed, or stored in Canada or in other jurisdictions where Hivelighter or its trusted service providers operate. Data protection laws in these jurisdictions may differ from those of your country of residence.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, Hivelighter implements appropriate safeguards designed to ensure that such transfers comply with applicable privacy laws, including the use of contractual protections or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms where required.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Services, maintaining user accounts, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, enforcing contractual agreements, protecting our legal rights, and maintaining appropriate business records.

When personal information is no longer required for these purposes, we will delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of the information in accordance with applicable law and our internal data retention practices.

10. Data Security

Hivelighter maintains administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or unauthorized access. These safeguards include access controls, encryption where appropriate, security monitoring, vulnerability management, authentication mechanisms, and other reasonable security practices appropriate to the nature of the information processed.

Although we strive to protect personal information using commercially reasonable safeguards, no method of transmitting or storing information electronically can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your personal information, request a portable copy of certain personal information, object to or request restriction of certain processing activities, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and lodge a complaint with an applicable supervisory authority.

We will respond to requests submitted in accordance with applicable privacy laws and may request additional information necessary to verify your identity before processing your request.

12. California Privacy Rights

Residents of California may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"). Subject to applicable law, these rights may include the right to know the categories of personal information collected, the sources from which such information is collected, the purposes for which it is used, the categories of third parties to whom it is disclosed, the right to request access, correction, deletion, or portability of personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Hivelighter does not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law.

13. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the minimum age required by applicable law, and Hivelighter does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child in violation of applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete such information as soon as reasonably practicable.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our Services, technologies, legal obligations, or business practices. When material changes are made, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy and, where required by applicable law, provide additional notice through the Services or by other appropriate means.

Your continued use of the Services following the effective date of the revised Privacy Policy constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated Policy.
